Outdoor Activity Breaks for
Groups with Disabilities

If you are looking to arrange short breaks away, in the beautiful countryside of Britain, for groups of individuals with disabilities this is the place to start looking.

A qualified Mountain Leader, David Matthews (MA, RNLD, RCNT, RNT, Cert Ed) is also a Registered Nurse with 37 years experience working with people with Learning Disability, 20 years as Nurse Tutor with a very significant publishing record, best known as the author of 'The OK Health Check' (www.fairfieldpublications.co.uk).  You can be sure that the special needs of your group are fully appreciated and taken into account.

Residential Breaks can be arranged and provided for groups at a high quality residential centre in the beautiful Forest of Bowland, an area of 240 square miles of rolling hills, forests and moorland officially designated an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).  It is possible to enjoy waymarked walks and biking routes through the forest from right outside the door, with paths suitable for wheelchairs and people with limited mobility.

A short drive takes you to some of the highlights of the Yorkshire Dales, with opportunities for hillwalking, caving and rock climbing.  Most of these activities can be tailored to fit the needs of your clients so that they have opportunities to enjoy the beauty of the environment and gain a real sense of personal achievement.

Malham, Gordale, Ingleton and Settle are just some of the beautiful local villages of character for you to explore.  A little further afield is the Lake District with wonderful cruises on Lake Windermere, Coniston Water and Ullswater, easily reached in a day trip.

The centre itself has plenty of room, with pool table, TV and lounges to relax in and a lift to upper floors.  There are no neighbours for miles. The area offers perfect peace and relaxation, surrounded by the forest and the wildlife that makes it their home.

You are assured of a programme of activities developed especially for your group, with their abilities and disabilities taken into full account.  Your programme will be developed by David Matthews personally, with close consultation with you, delivered by highly competent and experienced leaders who possess the necessary National Governing Body qualifications.
